Charity Fashion Show to make a splash for local family
A local family are set to benefit from funds raised at an annual Charity Fashion Show in Ipswich, on Thursday 12th March 2020. Milsoms Kesgrave Hall have once again teamed up with local independent retailer ANNA, to showcase this spring’s top fashion and glamour whilst raising money for Suffolk charity GeeWizz.
GeeWizz Charity have earmarked the funds that will be raised on the day for 6-year old Alexia Sinclair, who sadly suffers from Quadriplegic Spastic Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and Global Development Delay. She has very limited mobility and can have seizures, meaning she requires 24/7 care and support. Parents Emily and Toby have raised funds over the years for physiotherapy, which unfortunately isn’t covered by the NHS, that has allowed Alexia to learn to use her hands and stand with the help of a frame.
The family fundraised to install a hydrotherapy pool at their home for Alexia, to help with relaxing her muscles and aid her physiotherapy and development. They also generously invite other disabled children/young adults in their area to use their pool without charge.
This summer, the family have raised enough money to attend an intense swim therapy course, where Emily and Toby will learn how to perform physiotherapy with Alexia in the water, that can be practised at home for optimum effect and development. However, to be able to implement this at home, Alexia will need a set of railings and equipment to use in her pool for her to receive the full benefit.
Funds raised from a Golden Ticket draw, candle sales and a proportion of profits from the ANNA pop up shop will all contribute to the equipment needed for Alexia, but also to benefit other young people in the area.
Alexia’s mum Emily, says, “The reason we installed the hydrotherapy pool was to help ease the pain in her little body. Our local pool is very expensive, and many others are not warm enough, so they can set her seizures off.”
“The pool helps her relax and stretch, and without the weight bearing that comes with physio on dry land, Alexia can stand in the water and this helps her balance, strength and coordination. We also wanted to create a pool that will benefit others too.”
Tickets for the Charity Fashion Show are still available online via the Milsoms Kesgrave Hall website and are £50pp, which includes prosecco and canapes on arrival, a delicious 2-course lunch from the Hangar kitchen, coffee and the chance to network and shop.
Geraldine Milsom says, “We are delighted to again be supporting GeeWizz with the proceeds from this year’s Milsoms Charity Fashion Show and are proud that the funds raised will support a local family such as Alexia’s.”
“Purchasing equipment that will allow Alexia to receive optimum benefit from the hydrotherapy pool, knowing it will help her build strength and coordination whilst reducing her pain, is the greatest reward of all for everyone behind the organisation of the Fashion Show.”
