The GeeWizz charitable foundation is delighted to announce that Shaun Whiter and his wife Charlotte have agreed to become ambassadors for the charity. The charity has enjoyed a fantastic 2017 raising more than £140,000 to support families in Suffolk living with a disability or cancer. Its founder Gina Long MBE admitted she was completely inspired by Shaun and Charlotte from the first moment she met the couple earlier this year and that she was “truly honoured” that they have agreed to become GeeWizz ambassadors. Shaun, who took part in triathlons to raise thousands of pounds for a number of charities before his accident, has continued his fundraising efforts in the last year. He took part in the 150-mile Tour of Suffolk charity cycle ride organised by Ipswich Town, using a specially built hand bike, which supported the ITFC Academy and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. He was also a guest speaker at the Suffolk County Council’s Raising the Bar awards in June 2017 at Trinity Park, Ipswich. Shaun said: “The thing that struck me about Gina when I first met her is that she kept asking about the impact the accident had on Charlotte and my family. She understood that it didn’t just affect me, but everyone around me. "This is the same for the families that are supported by the GeeWizz charity. I hope I can inspire the young people, and their families, to show them there is support out there and opportunities for them.” Charlotte added: “I am delighted we are able to support GeeWizz as Gina and the charity are both amazing. We are both very excited to get involved and help as much as possible.” Welcoming the couple to the charity, Gina said: “We are truly honoured that Shaun and Charlotte have agreed to support our work as GeeWizz’s newest ambassadors. The couple are a formidable, inspirational duo with an unbelievable can-do attitude that resonates with the values and mission of GeeWizz. "Both Shaun and Charlotte are keen to be active ambassadors and I look forward to introducing them to some of the families we support and our generous local community in the near future.” In addition to the money raised for GeeWizz, the charity has also partnered with Inspire Suffolk and the League Managers Association Charity to run another successful ball and global online auction respectively – helping to raise more than £40,000 for the two charities.
