Ruby Bishop


British wheelchair tennis player, and GeeWizz Ambassador Ruby Bishop, is a huge supporter and champion of Inclusive sports for young people. Ruby has already achieved so much in her Tennis career, having broken into the top 100 and represented Team GB, all whilst studying at college! Ruby’s first international appearance for Great Britain was in 2019, where she played in 6 countries, and gained a both a Junior and an Adult world ranking.

In 2022 Ruby was part of the British Wheelchair World Team Cup squad in Portugal where she became Colour Holder number 319 after making her debut partnering Cornelia Oosthuizen in doubles. Ruby describes herself as determined and motivated, driven to prove people wrong! Sport has been a big part of her life, and Ruby wants to show young people that despite challenges they may face, with the right support, they can achieve whatever they set their minds to.

Diagnosed at two years old with cerebral palsy right-sided hemiplegia, Ruby has overcome many obstacles in her young life already. Ruby is working towards her goal of competing in Grand Slam Tournaments and at the Paralympics. Passionate about encouraging young people into inclusive sport, Ruby has worked as an Assistant Coach at TennisAble, for children with physical or learning disabilities. Her tremendous efforts in encouraging junior tennis players has been recognised by the LTA, and Ruby was awarded a prestigious LTA Tennis Award, Young Person of the Year 2022.
